General Entry Requirements

Other entry requirements apply to this programme these are: You should have 3 A2-level passes (see website link and UCAS entry profiles for further details), and 5 GSCE’s at grade C or above (or equivalent) including English. Other equivalent qualifications, such as Scottish Higher passes, the Irish Leaving Certificate or International Baccalaureate. Additional Criteria

  • If students have: (i). passed an Access course; (ii). Edexcel/BTEC National 12 unit Certificate or 18 unit Diploma qualification in a relevant area with an average of distinctions The BTEC 6 unit Award is acceptable for HND GCE AS/A level or AVCE qualifications (iii). or can give evidence of ability through their endeavours in the world of employment admission to the LL.B which may include an interview and diagnostic test.

Aims of the Programme

The principal aims of the programme are to:

  • provide access legal education a diverse student body, including mature and non-traditional learners.

  • enhance the employability of students by developing appropriate transferable and legal skills.

  • extend the intellectual and evaluative skills of participants and facilitate the development of processes of creative thought.

  • develop skills necessary for the investigation of legal problems.

  • develop a positive disposition towards, and the skills for, life long learning.

  • develop transferable skills for use in the workplace.

Programme Structure

The programme requires that you achieve 360 credits in total, 120 credits at level HE4, 120 credits at level HE5 and 120 Credits at level HE6. HE4 and HE5 comprise of 6 core modules per level each of 20 credits whilst HE6 comprises of 1 core 40 credit module and a number of option modules from which the student will choose four. Year 3 optional modules will run subject to sufficient demand.
